Apple Bourbon Ginger CocktailSeptember 24, 2018
The weather is finally getting cooler and fall is in the air!
Which totally calls for a seasonal cocktail, amirite? I don’t drink as much as I used to, but I love playing mixologist at home – especially when I have friends and family visiting. I like to go all out and create a cocktail that you could easily see yourself ordering at a restaurant.
This is the time to break out the good glasses, fancy bourbon and unique ice cube molds. I was tinkering with the idea of an apple cider-based cocktail because it’s so abundant and seasonal at the farmers’ market right now. I used ginger ale as a mixer, but you could easily use sparkling water if you prefer your drink to be less sweet.
You can definitely play around with the garnishes or have guests garnish their own drink. I like using cut-up apple pieces, fresh cranberries – though you could use frozen to keep your cocktail cold.
I used cinnamon sticks as a stir stick, but it’s totally not necessary if you don’t have any lying around. This cocktail would be perfect to serve before Thanksgiving dinner or at a Halloween party because of all the seasonal ingredients.
Here’s the recipe!
Apple Bourbon Ginger Cocktail
• 3 oz fresh apple cider
• 1 oz bourbon
• 1 oz ginger ale
• 1 apple, chopped
• ½ cup fresh cranberries
• Cinnamon sticks (optional garnish)
1. In a cocktail shaker with ice combine the apple cider and bourbon and shake well
2. Pour your cocktail in a glass filled with ice
3. Add about 1 oz of ginger ale
4. Garnish with chopped apples, a few fresh cranberries and a cinnamon stick
