I’ve lived in Toronto most of my life and it was only recently that I stumbled across the location of The Cosmopolitan Hotel, tucked away on Colborne Street – just around the corner from my old neighbourhood, St. Lawrence Market. I enjoyed a lovely two-night stay while I was back home in Toronto for a few meetings and this wedding. It was nice to have a little place like the Cosmo to come home to.
The Cosmopolitan Hotel attracts a high proportion of business travelers on long-term stays as each suite features a kitchenette and ensuite washer/dryer. This condo hotel is 9 years old and features a fairly even mix of resident-owned suites and hotel units. However, I do think that having a kitchenette would be handy if you’re hosting out-of-town guests or a girls bachelorette weekend. It would be a great place to meet up before heading out for the night.
The Cosmo also offers a workout room and Wildfire as the new hotel restaurant that opened in March of last year. It’s a great little place to meet for drinks or to grab dinner (they have another location uptown). For breakfast and lunch, I popped across the street to Marche inside Brookfield Place and one of my favourite places in Toronto.
I found the central downtown location (off Yonge Street and just south of King) to be incredibly helpful for meetings, shopping and socializing. You’re close to the subway, streetcar and walking distance to the Eaton Centre and most attractions.
Modern-style kitchen, bathroon and decor. I liked how the bedroom was separated and there was a small living room to lounge around in. I did park myself at the desk facing the light-filled window and got some blogging done while I was back in Toronto. Complimentary WiFi was also part of my stay.
Shizen Spa is a relaxing oasis to find in the heart of downtown Toronto and it’s also perfect for groups and bachelorette parties. The large zen-like space could accomodate manis + pedis with your girlfriends, while your group makes use of the hot tub and lounge area. A 2 hour private booking is available and I recommend inquiring about the large tranquility suite if you’re thinking of making a weekend out of it.
I had the chance to try out Shizen Spa’s new Moroccanoil Body Treatment and it was glorious. My therapist first used the Moroccanoil Body Buff to exfoliate my skin and clear all the icky dead skin cells from winter. The product contains orange peel, argan oil, vitamin E, avocado and other essential oils with a delicate orange blossom scent.
Once my skin was shining from all the buffing, my therapist applied a nourishing Moroccanoil Body Souffle with argan oil and shea butter and my skin drank up every last drop.
The spa does make Cosmopolitan ideal for a romantic couples’ getaway, where you don’t have to venture far for a fantastic dinner out in Toronto and then, spa treatments all in one place.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at Cosmopolitan Hotel, Toronto. After being in and out of so many cities and hotels for work, it was really nice to be in what felt like my own little condo in the middle of downtown Toronto.
