Happy Throwback Thursday! I’m re-sharing a post from one of my favourite places – The Parker Palm Springs. If you ever find yourself in the area – I definitely recommend you stop by this hotel for lunch or for a longer stay.
When I was booking my recent trip through the Californian desert, I came upon the very hip + unique Parker Palm Springs hotel and resort. It was first built as a Holiday Inn in 1959 before Gene Autry (the singing cowboy) coverted it into his Melody Ranch. Merv Griffin puchased and operated the resort in the 90s before it opened as The Parker Palm Springs in 2004. There’s a lot of history and nostalgia in these walls and designer Jonathan Adler has given the hotel a modern update with a heavy retro influence.
I spent a lot of time getting lost in the Alice in Wonderland-esque gardens with its tall hedges and winding paths. I eventually found my way to one of my favourite spots, the croquet lawn.
My Style – I try to keep everything light, colourful and fun when I’m on vacation. Mornings usually mean sliding into my bikini and pairing it up with a cool and flowy swim cover-up like this one. I love the beaded detail and bright orange colour. I went with flip-flops so I wouldn’t slip around the pool. (more…)
Happy Travel Tuesday! I wanted to share one of my favourite posts with you about one of my all-time favourite getaways – Banff, Alberta. It is gorgeous in the spring and definitely worth a look for a last-minute getaway this time of year. Hope you enjoy. xo – Lisa
I am in love with Banff.
I paid my very first visit to Banff National Park in Alberta last month and I couldn’t believe I had waited so long to experience the beauty that is Banff. From the fresh Rocky Mountain air, crystal clear blue water and wildlife along the highway – the whole thing felt oh-so-Canadian and right.
The drive from Calgary to Banff takes around 90 minutes along a busy highway where the Rocky Mountains just smee to appear out of nowhere along stretches of prairie plains. There are lots of easy hiking trails with a waterfall reward like Johnston Canyon and the scenic Banff Gondola which gives you a 360 degree mountain view from the top of the clouds. Make sure to pack your bathing suit for a hot mineral soak at the Banff Upper Hot Springs or buy a $69 day pass to access the luxurious water circut at The Willow Stream Spa inside the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Banff also has one of the longest ski seasons in North America and usually runs into Victoria Day long weekend. Make sure to pack your gear and hit the slopes at Sunshine Village. (more…)
If I had to be stranded on any island in the world, Fashion Island – a mall in Newport Beach would be a top contender. If you’re headed to Orange County and want to do some serious damage this is THE place.
Fashion Island Mall has a few of my favourite stores including Jonathan Adler, Restoration Hardware, Bloomingdale’s and American Rag. It’s an easy drive if you happen to be visiting Disneyland or any of the other surrounding theme parks in Orange County. (more…)
I’ve been looking for any excuse to rock a bit of nautical style and when Anaheim & Orange County Tourism invited me for a Sunset Organic Wine Cruise at Dana Wharf, I grabbed my blue and white stripes and was off in a jiffy. Nautical Style Dress from Gap. I did stop short from letting myself buy a captain’s hat…there’s always next time…. (more…)
Hello from Oklahoma!
The days have been long, lazy and humid. It’s also been the perfect excuse to wear every sundress that I own. I dug out this strapless lace dress from my closet, purchased from Urban Outfitters last summer during my recent stop in Oklahoma City.
My flats from Aldo have been a staple on this vacation, just for all the random walking that we’ve been doing. My Marc Jacobs Fran Bag goes with me everywhere. I stash this camera, my laptop, two cellphones and my passport in there when I travel. That way, when we make a gas station or food stop, all my valuables come with me in one swoop. I also use this bag as my carry-on when I fly for the same reason. (more…)
I recently picked out this cute knit mini dress from Zara. They recently started shipping to Canada via their online store and invited me to test-drive the website.
The whole thing was pretty simple to use and my order was at my door within the week. It’s great if you hate going to the mall or don’t feel like roaming the racks – everything is refundable or exchangeable. You can even take it back to the store if you’d like. (more…)
