Free People Wedding Dress Collection

In all its gorgeous boho glory comes the Free People Wedding Dress Collection! I love the crazy, cool casualness of it all with the long trains, lace detail and just all that flow. It’s very much the wedding dress I would pick out now in my 30s vs. the more classic A-line princess-like dress I chose in my 20s. The dresses are also sort of perfect for a beach or destination wedding.

FP Ever After is the first bridal collection from Free People. I love that there’s just so much more variety and choice in the wedding gown game and gone are the days of just straight up silk or satin. It’s also so difficult to find a unique wedding dress out there, which is why this collection caught my eye. (more…)

Top 5 Honeymoon Ideas in Canada

By: Lisa Ng

Planning a honeymoon or romantic getaway with your love? Canada is full of beautiful and unique honeymoon destinations where you can explore to your heart’s content and soak in all the scenery that our country has to offer.

It’s also a great time to plan a romantic vacation within Canada, as you’ll get more bang for your buck by staying in Canada and spending your Canadian dollar at home. A lot of couples are also choosing to register for their dream honeymoon vacation as opposed to additional home items, they may already own. To get you inspired, here are My Top 5 Honeymoon Ideas in Canada:

1) Banff, Alberta

Looking for a little adventure? The stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains provides the perfect scene for the activity-seeking couple. Spend a day skiing on powder at Sunshine Mountain, see turquoise blue water while hiking Johnston Canyon Trail or ride the Banff Gondola for a scenic 360 view. Cuddle up in front of the fire at the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel and book a couples massage at their luxurious Willow Stream Spa. Finish the night under the stars while soaking in mineral-rich water at the Banff Hot Springs. It’s the perfect winter honeymoon idea in Canada.

How I Saved Money on My Wedding Dress

Weddings are expensive.

I remember finding my dream wedding dress and not being able to stomach the $3000 price tag. It may not seem like a lot of money to some people, but as a newly engaged and broke university grad, $3000 was almost the price of my last tuition bill.

With a wedding to pay for, honeymoon costs looming and the possibility of buying our first home – I just couldn’t do it. So I decided to get a little creative and find a good compromise. Because once you have your heart set on a dress and a style, it’s hard to get that idea out of your head.

So what did I do? (more…)

Pre-Wedding Beauty

By: Lisa Ng

I don’t know about you – but I’ve been going to A LOT of weddings this year.

I’m packing up my suitcase tonight and head to Toronto tomorrow to celebrate the wedding of a near and dear friend from high school. It’s the second wedding I’ll be attending this year and I am thrilled to be sharing in this special day.

So all these weddings got me thinking of my own pre-wedding beauty regimen when I got married. A few things I still stick to and try to do when I’m heading to a big event myself. I have one more wedding in November for Paul’s brother and there will be lots of pictures! Therefore my beauty goal will be to make sure that my skin doesn’t completely dehydrated, I don’t have huge bags under my eyes or look jet-lagged in the photos.

If you’re prepping for your own wedding, you’re in the wedding party or just attending a big event where you want to look your best (who doesn’t!), here are a few helpful tips to get your beauty regimen in check:

1) Get a Facial – Before my big day, I booked a facial every month for about 6 months leading up to my big day. I wanted my skin to look healthy, to clear up any clogged pores, whiteheads and blackheads over time. I booked my last facial two weeks out from my wedding day, so my skin had time to heal and didn’t look red in photos. Do not book a facial the week of your wedding. Extractions can leave your face sore and you may breakout a little post-treatment. So give yourself lots of time.

Nowadays, I book a facial maybe every other month at most. It can get expensive, so I see it more as a treat these days. My other trick it check group buying sites like Gilt City to see if I can a great deal on a hotel spa facial so I can save some money!
