5 Wedding Technology Trends

By: Troy Williams

It’s not every day that you get the chance to fly up to Sonoma, California and attend a beautiful wedding. Not just any wedding either, but the most teched-out dream wedding planned by The Knot with details voted on by America.

Samantha & Taylor were selected from thousands of engaged couples across the country to have their unique story live-streamed for everyone to witness for The Knot’s Dream Wedding. Twice before this deserving couple’s plans to get married were cancelled due to the bride’s mother falling ill with cancer.

By hosting the event with the latest wedding technology on the market, Samantha’s Mom was able to watch her daughter’s dream wedding come to life from her hospital room. It was simply the best way to use modern day technology to witness one of the most traditional moments in a couple’s life.

Here are 5 of my favorite wedding technology features of Samantha & Taylor’s The Knot Dream Wedding that you can use for your own special event: (more…)

March Book Club Announcement!

Did you miss our very FIRST book club meeting last month?

You can catch up and join our discussion on Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project over on my recap post here. I am thrilled to announce our book club selection for the month of March – The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown – also a #1 New York Times Bestseller.

I will once again be co-hosting with Troy Williams of Simply Troy and Jessica Becker of From Rain to Sunshine. Start reading the book NOW and have it finished before our next meeting on:

Wednesday April 8th

7 PM PST / 10 PM EST

Our discussion will run 60-90 minutes in length.

We have 10 spots available via our Google hangout! You can join us virtually from the comfort of your own home from anywhere around the world. To save yourself a spot, email me, so I can add you to my book club circle and then invite you on the day-of to our video hangout.

If you can’t make the chat, I’ll be putting up a post where we can have an online discussion in the comments section. You can order the book online via Amazon here.

Happy reading!

Book Discussion: The Happiness Project

I just wrapped my first official book club meeting this week!

Let me preface it by saying I have avoided joining a book club for years because I thought it was going to be boring and all sorts of English class talk. In reality, it was truly enlightening and I made a few new friends in the process. We chose the very popular self-help book, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.

Along with my co-hosts, Troy Williams of Simply Troy and Jessica Becker of From Rain to Sunshine, we held an in-person meeting with a few friends at my house and chatted over wine, pizza, salad and a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake (a nod to the book).

Since we wanted to include people who couldn’t join us in-person, I set-up a Google Video Hangout and Jessica Blaine Smith from Toronto ended up joining virtually and we put her up on the big TV. So it was totally like she was there.

If you weren’t able to join us for our book club meeting (it was a late 10 PM start for our friends on the East Coast), I wanted to open up a small discussion here to see what everyone else thought of the book… (more…)

The Happiness Project Book Club

Hello Friends!

I’m launching a book blub this month with my friend Troy of Simply Troy + Jessica of From Rain to Sunshine. We’re reading The Happiness Project this month by Gretchen Rubin and we’re hoping to have it complete on Tuesday March 3rd, 2015.

***UPDATE*** We are actually meeting at 7 PM PST / 10 PM EST – I wrote it wrong before.

We will be meeting that night at 7 PM PST – so if you’re up for a late-night book club chat, please do let me know, as we have people joining us from all over the world for our first meeting!

If you’re interested in reading along with us, drop me an email at Lisa@ThisBeautifulDayBlog.com and we are going to see about either having everyone drop-in to our book club meeting via a Google Hangout OR we’ll have an online forum set-up where we can all discuss the book. Again, this is an experiment in virtual book clubbing – has anyone done this before? If so, do you have any tips? (more…)
