We’re almost midway through July – which means there’s still LOTS of time to go camp out in the woods!
After taking oh…about a TEN year hiatus from camping, I’ve finally re-embraced it after living in Oregon for just 2 weeks. There are just so many things to see and do here and being active and being outdoors is just part of the lifestyle.
So here’s what I recommend for your next trip: (more…)
Summer is here!
I know everyone doesn’t have a budget for a big blowout summer vacation, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a staycation in your own city. When I have a weekend at home, I like to planning a whole weekend of activities like a tourist in a new city.
I’m not going to lie.
It finally feels like summer and we just finished hosting Paul’s family at our house on the coast last week. We always throw it down with a crab dinner of some sort for our visitors with fresh cooked crab from our local seafood stand in Lincoln City, Oregon – Barnacle Bill’s.
All of the crab is local Oregon Dungeness Crab caught fresh in the Pacific Ocean that is only 5 minutes away from our house. So we hosted a crab boil last week – but without all the fuss and muss.
We bought cooked crab directly from the seafood market and put all the fixin’s together ourselves. I highly recommend doing this if you feel icky about dealing with live crabs OR if you don’t love the smell of seafood taking over your whole house.

Thinking of coming to Portland? One of the number one must-dos on a trip to Portland is a quick little day trip out to Multnomah Falls. There is just so much natural beauty in Oregon and this quick and easy day trip out of the city is a great way to see one of the crown gems.
Paul and I like to get out there as early in the morning as possible to beat all the tour buses and crowds. In this case it’s true – the early bird actually does get the worm! (more…)
I’ve started camping again and I have been obsessed with finding gourmet and fun camping meal ideas. It’s one of the parts I really enjoy.
I like camping meals that taste great, but are also easy to prepare over a fire or on our mini camp stove. It also has to fit into our cooler and doesn’t require too many ingredients. I’m also totally ok with pre-made stuff too – Trader Joe’s camping meal ideas are all over my camping meal plan.
