Konichiwa! I’m back from Tokyo!
I had a bit of time to kill this month while I was waiting for some documents to be renewed, so I took a last-minute solo trip to Tokyo. With about 2 weeks notice, I was able to book myself on a flight, hotel (including the Park Hyatt Tokyo) and activities for a 10 day trip to just Tokyo this time. I tried to convince Paul and my sister to go, but no one could take the time off work with such short notice.
So I decided to go anyway! Tokyo is a city I’ve always wanted to return to – so here was my chance to enjoy it and explore it on my own. 10 days was perfect because I started to get lonely (not being able to speak Japanese) and I missed Paul and BINGO terribly.
I chose to do a city vacation with a jam-packed itinerary where I was seeing and doing a lot of stuff. It’s easy to burnout this way, so I am all about booking in downtime and unique spa visits into my travel plans. (more…)

Even on a stormy winter morning, entering Esmé Beauty & Floral Bar is like finding an oasis. Located in a charming old house on Calgary’s busy pedestrian strip, 17th Avenue, Esmé offers an array of beauty services such as manis, pedis and waxing. (more…)
Looking for an easy weekend getaway out of Toronto to recharge?
I finally got back to Le Scandinave Spa in Collingwood, Ontario this past weekend and it is still the perfect spa oasis getaway. Located only two hours from downtown, Toronto I usually like to take a Friday off, leave in the morning to avoid traffic on the 400, grab a quick lunch on the way there and be at the spa by 1 PM. (more…)
I had my very first express facial experience at Face Haus in West Hollywood last week and it was awesome. Don’t get me wrong, I love a long, luxurious day at the spa – but often times I’m so crunched that I can find a free day to devote to just the spa. (more…)
I was recently invited by Chuan Spa at The Langham Hotel in Pasadena to come in and try their signature Chuan Yu Facial (1 hour 15 minutes / $230). It was glorious! If you’re looking for an ultra special Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day gift, this is a luxurious and thoughtful spa gift that anyone would love to have purchased for them. (more…)
I’m sharing a blast from the past today. It’s a post I’ve published before – but totally still useful in keeping busy over the cold and long winter months for my friends who don’t live somewhere hot.
Have you been hibernating? When it’s dark at 5 o’clock and your toes are freezing, the last thing you want to do is hang outside all day. So here are my suggestions for fun activities to do inside:
1) Go for Indian Food – The hot, hot heat of spicy Indian flavours will keep the fires warm, not to mention your sinuses clear. Round up your besties and make it a girls night out. The spices in curry are full of antioxidants and good for you. Finish your meal off with a refreshing and healthy mango lassi – a yogurt based smoothie. Try my recipe at home for a delicious Cauliflower + Chickpea Curry.
