Winter Beauty Favourites

Winter-Beauty-Tips

For all my friends out east – brrrrr! It’s getting cold out there and your skin is probably freaking out. I have the same problem whenever the weather changes that I wanted to share with you a few of my winter beauty favourites:

Josie Maran 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil – When my skin is really messed up from airplanes, travel, changing altitudes or cold air – I always start layering on the argan oil. Josie Maran’s is 100% pure like the name suggests, so there are no fillers or any other crap. The best way to wear it is to apply it at night before you go to bed and then slather your favourite night cream on top of it. I treat it like a serum and it’s part of my winter beauty routine. Do you have your winter skincare routine ready?

Whenever the temperature drops, my entire skincare routine is turned upside-down. Suddenly my skin is craving more moisture, my cheeks get dry and flaky, cold air and excessive travel seems to suck all the goodness out of my skin.

So what’s a girl to do? (more…)

Skincare in Your 30s

loreal-revitalift

How has your skin changed over the years? As I get older, the skincare products I used in my teens became too harsh for me in my 20s. They were often heavy on anti-acne ingredients and caused me to breakout further. When I dialed back on the salicylic acid in my products, my skin finally started to calm down. I also learned that the cheapest drugstore products were not necessarily the greatest and were often full of fillers. I slowly started to educate myself and invest into better skincare products as I got older.

Now as I enter my 30s, I find myself switching up my skincare routine once again. I need something to help fight the signs of aging and the sunspots that seem to be hanging around. I started wearing sunscreen religiously on my face, I don’t lie out in the sun like I used to and I’m constantly seeking shade. I was more reckless in my youth and now I am much more aware of sun damage, wrinkles and fine lines on my skin.

I’ve started using L’Oreal’s RevitaLift Collection as I become more aware of how my skin is changing as I age. RevitaLift Triple Power™ is a powerful moisturizer that gets deep into your pores to help repair wrinkles, smooths out fine lines and discoloration. The Pro-Xylane formulation is the unique ingredient that helps penetrates the skin faster and fight those wrinkles. What do I like best about it? The day lotion has an SPF of 20 built in! Which means it reduces one less step in my morning routine. The moisturizer comes out creamy but goes on nice and light with no greasy finish. It also smells great and not like a tropical sunscreen. It wears easily under my makeup and helps fade away my pesky sunspots.

RevitaLift Triple Power™ Eye Treatment is my second favourite product because it feels amazing on my skin. After spending the entire day staring at my computer screen, I love applying this concentrated serum around my eyes with its cooling applicator tip. It’s like a spa treatment for your eyes in a tube. This eye treatment works to repair wrinkles, reduce bags under your eyes while lifting your eye area. The product also contains Pro-Xylane and Hyaluronic Acid so it can work quickly on your skin. I felt the difference instantly.

I’ve been really happy with both of the products I tested out and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to refine their skincare products to include anti-aging.

Back To Beauty Basics With Indeed Labs

Indeed-labs-moisturizer

A sponsored post brought to you by Indeed Labs.

Back to school season means getting back to beauty basics with my skincare routine. After slathering on the sunscreen all summer-long, my skin can feel a little bit clogged from the sun, sweat and make-up. The worst days are when my skin feels crispy or dried out from too much sun exposure or alcohol-filled products.

So I decided to wake-up on a Sunday morning and spend a little time giving my skin some much-deserved TLC with a mini at-home spa day. Here are the products that I tested out:

Indeed-Labs-Hydraluron

My friends at Indeed Labs sent over the Facial Powdered Exfoliator to help scrub away any dry, flaky skin and to get my face glowing again. The product is water-activated, so I gave myself two shakes into the palm of my hand and added a bit of water to create a refreshing foam.

The little enzymes in this micro-powder gently exfoliates without irritating my skin. My face definitely felt smoother and softer after using it twice a week.

Always looking for an excuse to relax, I tried out the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Mask which is a mask that is soaked in serum that you place on your face.

I like to to throw it on after I step out of the shower and lie down for a bit of meditation time as the products absorb into my skin. After about 15 minutes, I removed the mask and massaged the remaining serum into my skin – no rinsing and no mess. (more…)

July Beauty Favourites

Clarins-Ombre-iridescente-Eyeshadow

It’s a new month of beauty favourites! Here are the best things to come across my desk in July – I can’t believe it’s almost over!

I’ve been sweating off my makeup during this summer heatwave that I’ve been opting for a heavier stay-put eyeshadow to cope with the heat. Clarins has an awesome Ombre Iridescente Cream-to-Powder Eyeshadow that are great for days like this.

I like to apply a bit to my crease and have been using Aquatic Rose 01 from the Aquatic Treasures Collection during the day for a subtle pop to brighten up my eyes with a slight shimmer. I’ve been reaching for Aquatic Grey 03 to add a dramatic pop at night. The formula almost feels like a light powdery gel that stays put and doesn’t melt off your face.

sibu-beauty-review

Have you heard of Sea Buckthorn Berry? I hadn’t either, so I was curious to try out a range of products from Sibu Beauty. The berry is supposed to be skin therapy for symptoms of rosacea, eczema and acne. The products are also GMO, paraben and cruelty-free. The oil is also Fair-Trade.

The Sibu Cleansing Bar has an energizing orange scent that I look forward to in the shower and great for deal with body breakouts or any sort of back acne. The oatmeal component is calming while the sea buckthorn oil works to heal and nourish the skin. For super inflammed skin, the Sibu Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil can be applied directly to problem areas where you might be experiencing a breakout. My favourite product of all has to be the Sibu Nourishing Facial Cream with oils, shea butter and aloe which feels great after a day in the sun. It’s perfect to add to your summer butter routine. I like to follow it up weekly with Sibu’s Purifying Mask which works to absorb any toxins.

Sea Buckthorn oil is a berry that thrives in the Himalayans by fortifying itself with 190 bioactive compounds. Sibu harnesses this property in its products and I’ve seen less redness and my skin has looked more calm with repeated use. Definitely worth checking out if you suffer from skin problems and are looking for natural alternatives. (more…)
