Clearly Brighter™ Challenge By Garnier

With the change in seasons, stress and sitting inside at my desk all day – my skin has begun to look a bit dull. I don’t know if it’s an age thing or maybe even a lifestyle thing, but I’ve finally decided to take charge of my skin. I do my best by keeping hydrated throughout the day, eating well and avoid alcohol during the week. But there are some days when my skin still looks dull.

So what’s a girl to do?

I recently partnered up with Garnier to take their Clearly Brighter Challenge. I wanted to see if their product would make a difference on my skin. I tried their new SkinActive Clearly Brighter Brightening & Smoothing Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 for two weeks to see if it would help with any dullness on my face.

Before I started using the product my skin was definitely looking tired, dull and I was prone to breakouts. I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks – so it’s tough find the right balance when it comes to good moisturizer.

What I like about this product is that it is loaded with antioxidants and Vitamin C + E, which work to even out skin tone and texture for brighter and smoother skin. I noticed a difference after just two weeks.

It’s a great way to keep that summer glow going and I like how it made my skin look fresh and bright. I am trying my best to wear sunscreen daily and having it built in to my moisturizer makes mornings a million times easier. It takes two beauty steps and combines them into one and I don’t have to think about whether I remembered to put sunscreen on in my morning haze.

The product claims it will give you brighter, smoother skin in just one week.*

What I like about it is that the formula is oil-free, doesn’t clog my pores and is light enough to wear under make-up.

It does not feel greasy at all and has a matte feel to it once it’s absorbed. The smell is also fresh, fruity and floral which instantly wakes me up in the morning. The product comes in an easy pump bottle that you twist to open and close with no cap to lose!

After about two weeks my skin looked fresher, brighter and healthier. Moisturizing on the regular and having that built in sun protection left my skin with a healthy natural glow.

Invest in a great moisturizer like Garnier’s SkinActive Clearly Brighter Brightening & Smoothing Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 and let the formula get to work for you. Be consistent and use it twice a day to get the best results. I know it’s easy to forget to moisturize but you’ll see the benefits in healthier and more hydrated skin when you do.

My Philosophy for 2015

Sedona

What’s the one thing that’s on my mind for 2015?

A new me.

2014 felt like the year that got away from me. When I was asked to use ONE word to describe this past year, I chose the word STRESSED.

How did this happen? This was not the word I wanted as the overarching description of one whole year.

I’m not letting this happen again.

2015 is going to be my year of renewal. That’s not to say I will be selfish and only think about myself. In fact, it was my selflessness of putting others before myself that got me into a whirlwind of expectations, guilt and stress. There’s got to be a better balance out there and my quest will be to focus on my own needs so I can be my best self and offer that version to other people. This is about renewal, and getting back to the things that are important to me. So here’s my game plan:

1) Exercise – I used to think I HAD to exercise so I could lose weight and get skinny. WRONG. I’ve learned that I need to exercise to release stress, to keep my mental sanity and to do something for myself. So at the start of every week, I will be booking in all my workouts into my calendar.

2) Cooking More – When I stay at home and cook from scratch, my skin looks better, I have more energy and I feel better. I also avoid eating poorly or consuming an excess amount of calories and sugar. I used to want to hit every new restaurant in town – but that hurts my wallet and my waistline. So I’m vowing to cook more at home and to save my dinners out as a reward or a nice treat to myself.

3) Be Protective of My Time – This is a lesson in saying no. I tend to over-commit and over-schedule myself and when I do that I take downtime away from myself. I’ve come to learn how important that downtime is in protecting myself from getting overwhelmed, rushed, and ultimately stressed. The new me in the New Year will be going with the flow and being more protective of who I choose to share my time with.

4) Get Organized – I can’t complain of not having enough time if I’m not making the effort to properly organize it. In 2015, I am going to start with a daily intention, a proper to-do list and reasonable deadlines for getting everything done.

5) Start the Day Right – It doesn’t need to start perfectly every day, but in an ideal world I would like to wake-up, make my bed, drink a glass of lemon water and cook myself an egg over easy over a slice of avocado toast with a mug of hot coffee. I would like to sit down, savor this moment, and set my daily intention before I even begin to check my email or social media feeds. I want to make sure I come first and not all the chatter, work and emails.

6) A Great Skincare Routine – I would really like to start a proper skin routine this year with quality products that truly renew and nourish my skin. My friends at philosophy make an amazing all-day skin-renewing moisturizer called renewed hope in a jar ($47, 2 oz) that I plan on wearing every day. I find that it’s light enough that it doesn’t make my skin feel or look greasy and it actually makes my pores look smaller because of the alpha-hydroxy acids in the product. My skin looks hydrated with a healthy glow (thanks to a special Asian fruit extract) that I no longer skimp out on moisturizer in the morning.

So as I think about all the things I will do for my body and mental health this year, I am pleased to share that 1% of all philosophy product sales support community-based mental health efforts.
