Clearly Brighter™ Challenge By Garnier

With the change in seasons, stress and sitting inside at my desk all day – my skin has begun to look a bit dull. I don’t know if it’s an age thing or maybe even a lifestyle thing, but I’ve finally decided to take charge of my skin. I do my best by keeping hydrated throughout the day, eating well and avoid alcohol during the week. But there are some days when my skin still looks dull.

So what’s a girl to do?

I recently partnered up with Garnier to take their Clearly Brighter Challenge. I wanted to see if their product would make a difference on my skin. I tried their new SkinActive Clearly Brighter Brightening & Smoothing Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 for two weeks to see if it would help with any dullness on my face.

Before I started using the product my skin was definitely looking tired, dull and I was prone to breakouts. I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks – so it’s tough find the right balance when it comes to good moisturizer.

What I like about this product is that it is loaded with antioxidants and Vitamin C + E, which work to even out skin tone and texture for brighter and smoother skin. I noticed a difference after just two weeks.

It’s a great way to keep that summer glow going and I like how it made my skin look fresh and bright. I am trying my best to wear sunscreen daily and having it built in to my moisturizer makes mornings a million times easier. It takes two beauty steps and combines them into one and I don’t have to think about whether I remembered to put sunscreen on in my morning haze.

The product claims it will give you brighter, smoother skin in just one week.*

What I like about it is that the formula is oil-free, doesn’t clog my pores and is light enough to wear under make-up.

It does not feel greasy at all and has a matte feel to it once it’s absorbed. The smell is also fresh, fruity and floral which instantly wakes me up in the morning. The product comes in an easy pump bottle that you twist to open and close with no cap to lose!

After about two weeks my skin looked fresher, brighter and healthier. Moisturizing on the regular and having that built in sun protection left my skin with a healthy natural glow.

Invest in a great moisturizer like Garnier’s SkinActive Clearly Brighter Brightening & Smoothing Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 and let the formula get to work for you. Be consistent and use it twice a day to get the best results. I know it’s easy to forget to moisturize but you’ll see the benefits in healthier and more hydrated skin when you do.

Skincare in Your 30s

loreal-revitalift

How has your skin changed over the years? As I get older, the skincare products I used in my teens became too harsh for me in my 20s. They were often heavy on anti-acne ingredients and caused me to breakout further. When I dialed back on the salicylic acid in my products, my skin finally started to calm down. I also learned that the cheapest drugstore products were not necessarily the greatest and were often full of fillers. I slowly started to educate myself and invest into better skincare products as I got older.

Now as I enter my 30s, I find myself switching up my skincare routine once again. I need something to help fight the signs of aging and the sunspots that seem to be hanging around. I started wearing sunscreen religiously on my face, I don’t lie out in the sun like I used to and I’m constantly seeking shade. I was more reckless in my youth and now I am much more aware of sun damage, wrinkles and fine lines on my skin.

I’ve started using L’Oreal’s RevitaLift Collection as I become more aware of how my skin is changing as I age. RevitaLift Triple Power™ is a powerful moisturizer that gets deep into your pores to help repair wrinkles, smooths out fine lines and discoloration. The Pro-Xylane formulation is the unique ingredient that helps penetrates the skin faster and fight those wrinkles. What do I like best about it? The day lotion has an SPF of 20 built in! Which means it reduces one less step in my morning routine. The moisturizer comes out creamy but goes on nice and light with no greasy finish. It also smells great and not like a tropical sunscreen. It wears easily under my makeup and helps fade away my pesky sunspots.

RevitaLift Triple Power™ Eye Treatment is my second favourite product because it feels amazing on my skin. After spending the entire day staring at my computer screen, I love applying this concentrated serum around my eyes with its cooling applicator tip. It’s like a spa treatment for your eyes in a tube. This eye treatment works to repair wrinkles, reduce bags under your eyes while lifting your eye area. The product also contains Pro-Xylane and Hyaluronic Acid so it can work quickly on your skin. I felt the difference instantly.

I’ve been really happy with both of the products I tested out and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to refine their skincare products to include anti-aging.

Summer Beauty Favourites

Summer-Beauty-2014

By: Lisa Ng

Summer is here! Which means all-new beauty products to try. Here are the beauty items that are worthy of a mention this month:

Quick Dry Sheer Spray – I am in love with this alcohol-free sheer finish SPF 50 sunscreen spray from the L’Oreal Sublime Sun collection. I have dry skin to begin with so lathering on a sunscreen that is full of alcohol just leaves my skin in worst condition after a day in the sun. This Quick Dry Sheer Spray Sunscreen contains antioxidants like grapeseed oil, shea oil and vitamin E to nourish the skin. I also prefer a spray, because when I’m on the run – it’s so quick to apply.

Miss Manga Voluminous Mascara – As a fan of all-things Kawaii I love the new Miss Magna Japanese-inspired line from L’Oreal. They have some crazy colours like purple, blue and turquoise – but I’m a fan of the black. The mascara is thick and gives me a wide-eyed Kawaii look, lots of volume and no flakes.

Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me Masque – I love the bursting beads of vitamin C & E in this hydrating hair masque. It’s pretty thick, so you don’t need to use a ton and a little goes a long way. I notice that my hair is softer on the days I use this treatment and an active seaweed ingredient keeps excess oil out.

Simple Skincare Soothing Facial Toner – I discovered this brand over a decade ago when I was traveling in the UK and I’m thrilled to see that it’s made it to Canada. Their soothing toner is still my absolute favourite, it’s very gentle and removes traces of leftover dirt and make-up and not to mention, super affordable. (more…)
