My Colgate Optic White Beauty Lounge Makeover

Colgate Optic White

This is a sponsored post in partnership with Colgate* Optic WhiteTM/MC.

I’m pretty good about taking care of my skin, working out and eating well.

However taking care of my smile is one of things I am diligent about because it truly expresses who I am to the rest of the world. A warm smile is just contagious and opens you up to new people and new conversation. Having spent the past couple years traveling and moving cities, I make a point of smiling as much as possible because you never know who you will meet and connect with. (more…)

November Beauty Favourites

It’s a new month!

Which means a round-up of my November beauty favourites. Here are the best things that came across my desk this month that I think are worth sharing:

Eyeshadow Palette – If you’re looking to add an eyeshadow palette to your collection that covers all your bases, check out Pur Minerals Secret Crush which features 8 decadent colours made with minerals. I love the progression from light to dark and the mix of shimmer to dramatic. The palette is great for blending and for taking your look from day to night. Long-lasting and with good pigmentation.

5 Great Face Masks for Amazing Skin

By: Daniela DiStefano

Whether it’s exfoliating, polishing, hydrating or deep cleaning, face masks are essentially a weekly treat for your face. Wash it off, peel it away or leave it on overnight to reveal the fresh new skin just waiting to make its debut. We’ve put five face masks to work over the last few weeks and are ready to share the results from the time spent with our face coated in clays, gels and creams.

The Hydrating Mask: La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Masque, $33

Sensitive and acne-prone types will find the soothing and rehydrating properties of this velvety-fresh gel masque a gift from the beauty gods. You apply a thin layer for 10 minutes and let it go to work releasing the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water to hydrate for a soft and supple outcome. Tissue off the excess, or leave it on over night to really quench. (more…)

Cubicle Glam: What you Need to Primp at the Office

By: Daniela DiStefano

Whether you ran late getting ready this morning, or got asked to a last minute after-work event, a kit of office-friendly beauty products will make sure you always looked polished from 9 to 5 and beyond. But unless your boss will understand that you need an entire filing cabinet for your makeup, we suggest choosing a few essentials that won’t overpower the office supplies.

We’ve picked some of our favourite things to stash at work to avoid crisis and keep you looking fresh before a big (or surprise!) meeting:

Hair Elastics & Bobby Pins: An unexpected rainstorm at lunch or a humid summer day can totally botch your morning’s blow out. Keep some elastics and pins handy for a messy side braid or top knot when you’re in a bind. Goody Double Wear Elastics ($3.99) and Colour Collection Mini Bobby Pins ($3.99) at drugstores. (more…)

This Beautiful Day x Bremenn Clinical

A sponsored post.

By: Lisa Ng

There are days when my regular drugstore products just don’t cut it. I noticed that as the seasons change, my skin can become more demanding – especially during the winter.

I met the fine folks at Bremenn Clinical in their hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah when I attended my first Alt Summit in January. It was perfect timing because the altitude change coupled with my recent long-haul flight from Tokyo to Los Angeles was beginning to wear on my skin. My face would go through an intense period of dryness, followed by a cycle of excessive oil production and then a breakout. I really began to feel self-conscious of how my skin looked.

A face regimen overhaul was in order.

First up, I got rid of all my face wipes that were loaded with alcohol. I am really lazy about taking my make-up off at night that I usually give it a quick wipe and I crash into bed. I switched to a more gentle Micellar water to cleanse my skin and it made a big difference. (more…)

April Beauty Round-up!

By: Lisa Ng

Here are the beauty items that are worthy of a mention this month:

Fig & Yarrow – My sister sent me this amazing Facial Care Kit ($74) for my birthday and I’ve become a devoted fan of this wildcrafted skincare line out of Colorado. I’ve been using the cleansing nectar to remove make-up, then the complexion water to rebalance the pH of my skin and to calm any redness. I follow with the facial serum oil and then the yarrow buttercream. It’s an organic all-natural regimen made with botanical extracts and great for your travel case too. (more…)
