Sailing Away: Nautical Style

I’ve been looking for any excuse to rock a bit of nautical style and when Anaheim & Orange County Tourism invited me for a Sunset Organic Wine Cruise at Dana Wharf, I grabbed my blue and white stripes and was off in a jiffy. Nautical Style Dress from Gap. I did stop short from letting myself buy a captain’s hat…there’s always next time….

We spotted a sea lion swimming (above) and playing in the ocean in front of our boat! It was a nice surprise to see some marine life as we cruised along the harbour for an hour. I had such a great time that I just booked myself back in for a two-hour whale watching tour! They’ve spotted whales everyday in the past two months.

Press trips may look and seem all fun and glamorous, but they really look like the top photo above – a bunch of media peeps on their phone 😉 Sunglasses by TOMS.

Training to be a Real Housewife of Orange County – though that wine glass definitely needs filling…

Lovin’ the crew

Get ready for extra messy hair with the wind!

A gorgeous day to be out on the water! If you have an extra day or two when you visit Los Angeles, make the short drive down to Orange County. The 63′ catamaran is very stable – I didn’t get seasick (since it was very slow-moving) and there are two bathrooms on-board with a cash bar. There’s nothing like sipping on a glass of organic wine while watching the sunset on a boat.

After our cruise, we walked over to Doheny State Beach for a bonfire dinner complete with hot dogs and s’mores. If you’re looking to getaway from the busy LA scene I suggest booking a cruise, packing a picnic and cooler dinner and dragging along a few beach chairs. The picnic tables are always open and you can contact a park ranger about booking a bonfire pit.

Definitely make a day out of visiting Orange County and Anaheim – there’s so much to do there. I hope to spend some more time there soon!
