I originally shared this recipe last year, but thought it would be good timing for me to re-post again as everyone is getting ready for the upcoming holiday season and Thanksgiving!
Canadian Thanksgiving is on the horizon and American Thanksgiving is not far behind. I’m already collecting recipes for things I might want to cook for the big feast. I thought I would share my recipe for homemade cranberry sauce for those of you also planning ahead. It is so easy to make, that you’ll never want to open a can again.
This year, my parents are flying into Portland for a visit and staying for about 3-4 weeks to baby-sit BINGO while we have a bit of traveling booked on our calendar. So we will likely do a very small celebration in the city with the four of us before Paul and I head out to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Zion National Park + Bryce Canyon!

Bring to boil 1 cup of water + 1 cup of sugar. Make sure the sugar is fully dissolved before you add ONE 12 oz bag of fresh or frozen cranberries.
Simmer for 8-10 minutes until the cranberries begin to burst
Using a lemon zester, add fresh orange zest and nutmeg to taste to your cranberry sauce.
Allow the cranberry sauce to cool and thicken. Refrigerate until you’re ready to serve. Voila! Easy Cranberry Sauce not out of a can and made from scratch.
Unleash that inner Martha!
