Avocado toast has been getting a bad rap right now and it shouldn’t, because it’s downright delicious and affordable when you make it at home. Also, a brunch dish cannot be blamed for an entire generation being unable to afford a house in an overpriced city centre.
Don’t even get me started.

Avocado toast to the rescue!
I decided on a DIY Avocado Toast Bar for the baby shower brunch. That way guests could easily toast up some fresh bread at a toasting station that we left out. Here’s how you can re-create this at home for your next fancy brunch in!
Also to note – this recipe is pretty filling on its own. To round-out your brunch, I would recommend just buying a fruit platter, mimosas, serving up some coffee and maybe a small dessert to go with.
You could even create a DIY Mimosa Bar to go with and leave out an array of juices and sparkling wine in a party ice bucket where guests could also serve themselves.
- Get yourself some really good bread – I like sourdough and put it out pre-sliced
- Set-up a toasting station
- Lemon wedges
- Sliced radishes
- Halved cherry tomatoes
- Mashed up avocado with minced garlic
The Big Finish
- Pepper and sea salt flakes
- Red chili pepper flakes
- Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
