Summer Camping Guide 2017!

camping oregon

We’re almost midway through July – which means there’s still LOTS of time to go camp out in the woods!

After taking oh…about a TEN year hiatus from camping, I’ve finally re-embraced it after living in Oregon for just 2 weeks. There are just so many things to see and do here and being active and being outdoors is just part of the lifestyle.

So here’s what I recommend for your next trip: (more…)

Where To Stay in San Francisco, California

lisa ng san francisco

I had an amazing time meeting up with my sister in San Francisco recently! She had to fly in from Toronto for a conference and flights for me from Portland are $100 round-trip, so it was the perfect chance for us to hang out.

We got up to a lot of shopping, fun dinners and taking our time exploring the city. If you’re ever heading to San Francisco, I definitely recommend checking out the Kimpton Sir Francis Drake Hotel – where we stayed!

The Location – We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better location for a weekend girls trip. The Sir Francis Drake Kimpton was smack dab in the middle of all the shopping action in Union Square. Which meant super easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and cable cars.

On our first morning, we were able to walk to Chinatown for dim sum to go at Good Mong Kok and then over to Boba Guys for an Iced Match Latte. You’re also only about a 20-minute walk to the Embarcadero waterfront and for lunch at The Slanted Door inside The Ferry Building. See my previous San Francisco Travel Guide for more trip planning ideas!

I know everyone doesn’t have a budget for a big blowout summer vacation, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a staycation in your own city. When I have a weekend at home, I like to planning a whole weekend of activities like a tourist in a new city.

I’m not going to lie.

I’ve been craving just being at home lately. We’ve been going up to our airbnb in Lincoln City almost every weekend for three months, that I don’t even feel like I live in Portland sometimes.  (more…)

My Top 5 Road Trip Essentials

I love a good road trip.

I’ve driven from Toronto to California twice on Route 66 and back to Toronto through Colorado. A few of my other favourite trips have been to the East Coast all the way to PEI and then down to Washington, DC. I was also fortunate to road trip Highway 1 along California’s gorgeous coastline. Paul and I are also back and forth on the weekends to our new beach house.

I’ve learned a couple things from all these road trips, so here are my Top 5 Road Trip Essentials:
