I discovered a little trick while planning for Canadian Thanksgiving last year – which was to plan ahead as much as possible. I recommend cooking and prepping two days before your big dinner so you’re not stuck in the kitchen the whole day while your friends and family are there.
Paul and I had an awesome Canadian Thanksgiving last year and cooked up a feast for his parents who drove a uhaul full of our junk from Toronto to Portland, in order to help us furnish the new beach house!
Here’s how we planned for our Thanksgiving Dinner together: (more…)

I can’t believe Canadian Thanksgiving is coming up next month! My parents will be in town to visit me and we will definitely do a dinner together to celebrate.
One of my favourite parts of Thanksgiving dinner is definitely the stuffing. I’ve made every type of stuffing there is using cornbread, sourdough, white bread and even challah bread. I am so lucky to live in such an incredible food city and FEAST really highlights some of the amazing chefs that Portland has to offer. This is my second year at this epic food festival and it was really nice to know what to expect from a weekend of gluttony.
The highlight events for me this year was The Grand Tasting, Smoked! and Brunch Village, plus a bunch of fun parties and classes in-between.

Where should we eat near Pike Place Market?
This was our dilemma on our recent trip to Seattle. The choices are so overwhelming and everything just looks so damn good. Paul and I settled on a modern Korean Gastropub right near our hotel in Pike Place Market.
We knew we were in for a treat, when we saw how busy Chan Seattle was and the crowd starting to gather outside for their phenomenal happy hour from 5-6:30 PM daily. I can easily say it’s well worth the wait and the line moves quickly. We arrived right at 5 PM and the place was already busy with hungry diners.
FEAST is almost here!
It’s my second time attending this Portland food + drink festival and I’m super excited as I had a blast last year. What’s super nice is now I sort of know what to expect and what the rhthym is like for the weekend which is really a nice way to say, “Lisa, PACE YOURSELF” + wear stretchy pants! (more…)
