Happy Travel Tuesday! I wanted to share one of my favourite posts with you about one of my all-time favourite getaways – Banff, Alberta. It is gorgeous in the spring and definitely worth a look for a last-minute getaway this time of year. Hope you enjoy. xo – Lisa
I am in love with Banff.
I paid my very first visit to Banff National Park in Alberta last month and I couldn’t believe I had waited so long to experience the beauty that is Banff. From the fresh Rocky Mountain air, crystal clear blue water and wildlife along the highway – the whole thing felt oh-so-Canadian and right.
The drive from Calgary to Banff takes around 90 minutes along a busy highway where the Rocky Mountains just smee to appear out of nowhere along stretches of prairie plains. There are lots of easy hiking trails with a waterfall reward like Johnston Canyon and the scenic Banff Gondola which gives you a 360 degree mountain view from the top of the clouds. Make sure to pack your bathing suit for a hot mineral soak at the Banff Upper Hot Springs or buy a $69 day pass to access the luxurious water circut at The Willow Stream Spa inside the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Banff also has one of the longest ski seasons in North America and usually runs into Victoria Day long weekend. Make sure to pack your gear and hit the slopes at Sunshine Village.
Since the weather changes sporadically and there are so many different micro climates, it’s best to dress in layers and comfortable hiking boots. I found a little railroad track with the Rocky Mountains in the background and snapped a few of these photos.
What I Wore:
Jacket – Mackage, so incredibly warm and comfortable. I love that it’s stylish and Canadian!
Leggings – Alternative Apparel, so soft that they feel like pajamas but stretchy enough to move with you on a hike. They have lots of colours and cool prints.
Boots – Rockport, I bought these for walking around in the city. They are flat with a solid rubber sole and water-resistant for easy hikes.
Sunglasses – Target, always has the best selection of stylish sunglasses for under $15.
Have you been to Banff? Any favourite things to eat, see or do?
